This 150 year old black walnut had been planted by my family in the yard of our old Charles and Melinda Applegate home in Yoncalla.  They brought the nuts to plant from Missouri where the lightening bugs excite the night sky. Here it grew high into the Oregon sunshine until it became diseased and had to be cut down. This portrait was done before its demise.
